17 years old Ayush Mhatre became the youngest player in the history to hit 150+ runs in a List A match during the Vijay Hazare Trophy match between Mumbai and Nagaland at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on December 31, 2024. The Mumbai batter surpassed Yashasvi Jaiswal in the list to be the youngest player to score 150+ in an innings of List A with his 181-run knock against Nagaland in Ahmedabad.
Talking about the match, Mumbai defeated Nagaland by a huge margin of 189 runs in match number 81 of the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Batting first, Mumbai posted a mammoth 403 runs for the loss of seven wickets. In reply, Nagaland were restricted at 214/9, despite Jagadeesha Suchith scoring a century.
Ayush Mhatre smashes 181 as Mumbai went past 400 runs
Batting first, Mumbai got a flying start as Ayush Mhatre and Angkrish Raghuvanshi added 156 runs for the first wicket in 24.5 overs. Raghuvanshi got out after scoring 56(66) runs, while Mhatre top scored with 181(117) runs hitting 15 fours and 11 sixes. After that, skipper Shardul Thakur also gave finishing touches in the end by smashing an unbeaten 73*(28) runs with two fours and eight sixes as Mumbai posted 403/7. For Nagaland, Dip Borah took three wickets, Nagaho Chishi took two, while Imliwati Lemtur and Jagadeesha Suchith scalped a wicket each.
Chasing the winning target, Nagaland got a disastrous start as they lost five wickets for just 23 runs in nine overs. After that, Sedezhalie Rupero and Jagadeesha Suchith added 85 runs for the sixth wicket. Rupero got out after a steady 53(110) runs hitting five boundaries, while Sucith top scored with 104(97) runs with seven fours and four sixes. However, it wasn’t to take Nagaland over the winning line as they could only reach 214 runs losing nine wickets in their 50 overs. For Mumbai, Shardul Thakur took three scalps, Royston Dias and Suryansh Shedge took two wickets each while Harsha Tanna and Siddhesh Lad scalped a wicket each.
