Perth Scorchers Women registered another convincing victory in the ongoing season of the Women’s Big Bash league (WBBL) as they defeated Sydney Thunder Women by 74 runs in match number 24 of the season at Drummoyne Oval on Tuesday, November 12. After skipper Sophie Devine played a captain’s knock of 48 runs, Amy Edgar, Chloe Ainsworth and Ebony Hoskin took charge with the ball as Perth Scorchers were all over Sydney Thunder to register their fourth win in the 2024 WBBL.

Coming to bat after winning the toss, Perth Scorchers Women lost their both their openers in the powerplay. After that, Dayalan Hemalatha and skipper Sophie Devine took charge of the innings. Hemalatha got out after scoring 41 runs off 26 hitting four fours and a six. On the other hand, Devine top scored with 48 runs off 34 balls amassing six fours and a maximum.

Perth Scorchers Women thrash Sydney Thunder Women with dominant bowling performances

Perth Scorchers posted a total of 171 runs losing seven wickets in their 20 overs. For Sydney Thunder, Shabnim Ismail and Chamari Athapaththu scalped 2 wickets while Samantha Bates and Hannah Darlington put one each in their bag. After that, Perth Scorchers bowlers didn’t let Sydney Thunder get closer to the target as they were bowled out for just 97 runs in 19.3 overs. 

Chloe Ainsworth was adjudged Player of the Match for her match-winning figures of 2/15 in four overs. Apart from that, Amy Edgar also took three wickets conceding 19 runs in 3.3 overs, while Ebony Hoskin finished with figures of 2/10 in three overs.
