Chasing a winning total, Sydney Sixers also got a poor start as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. On the other hand, skipper Ellyse Perry kept scoring from one end and took Sydney closer to the target before getting out in the 18th over. Perry smashed eight boundaries during her knock of 67 runs in 53 balls. After her wicket, none of the other batters could help Sydney Sixers cross the finishing line as they were restricted to 126/7 at the end of 20 overs. For Perth Scorchers, Alana Kings took three wickets.

Coming to bat in the super over, Sydney Sixers ended up scoring 15 runs in six balls as Ellyse Perry top scored with 12 runs off four balls, including a four and a maximum. In reply, Mikayla Hinkley smashed 14 off 4 as Perth Scorchers also ended up scoring 15 runs for the loss of one wicket in six balls. Since the WBBL doesn't have the rule of subsequent super overs like international level, this match ended in a tie after the first super over.
