India registered a dominant win against Australia in the first Test of the 2024-25 Border Gavaskar Trophy at Perth Stadium. The visitors defeated the Baggy Greens by 295 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series down under. For India, standing skipper Jasprit Bumrah led from the front with his bowling in both the innings. After registering a five-wicket haul in the first innings, Bumrah again scalped three wickets in the second innings as India won the game with a day remaining.
After taking a crucial lead of 46 runs in the first innings, India declared their second innings on 487/6, giving Australia a mammoth target of 534 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal top scored with 161(297) runs, hitting 15 fours and three sixes. Apart from that, Virat Kohli also came up with his 30th Test hundred scoring an unbeaten 100*(143) with eight fours and two sixes. After that, the Indian bowlers took charge again.

At last, Australia were bowled out for 238 runs as India sealed the deal by 295 runs. Coming as an standin skipper in place of Rohit Sharma, player of the match, Bumrah delivered a match-winning bowling performance with eight wickets in the match including a five-wicket haul in the first innings.
