On Wednesday, September 11 (IST), Kieron Pollard-led Trinbago Knight Riders registered a four-wicket win against Saint Lucia Kings at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia in CPL 2024. Winning the toss, the visitors invited the home side, Faf du Plessis-led Saint Lucia Kings to put the score first. In their stipulated 20 overs, the Kings added 187 runs at the loss of six wickets, courtesy an unbeaten 56 from Roston Chase, along with key contributions from the skipper as well as Bhanuka Rajapaksa.
Meanwhile, in pursuit of the 188-run target, the Trinbago Knight Riders chased the total in 19.1 overs, courtesy an all-round performance from their skipper, Pollard. The former West Indies international put on his beast mode as he smashed the bowlers all round the park, scoring an unbeaten 52 off 19 deliveries.

During his innings, Pollard smashed seven sixes, scoring 52 runs at a strike rate of 273.68. Although the former West Indian cricketer came to the crease when his side were in tricky spot, with the scoreboard reading 123/4 in the 14th over, after Keacy Carty and Andries Gous’ departure.
Furthermore, with 27 runs needed of the final 12 deliveries, Pollard smoked Matthew Forde for towering sixes to help finish the game in style. Forde went for a dot ball on the first ball of the penultimate over, the veteran all-rounder slammed four sixes off the next five deliveries, including three in a row to finish the over.

Kieron Pollard: Stats, Records and Numbers
The 37-year-old Pollard called time on his international 15-year international career in April 2022. Pollard became the first men’s player to represent West Indies in over 100 T20I matches, donning it for 132 times in ODIs. He was also a key member of the team that won the T20 World Cup 2012, but missed their second T20 World Cup triumph, which came in 2016 due to an injury.
Pollard scored a total of 1569 runs at a strike rate of 135.14, along with picking up 42 wickets in his T20I career. Just a year before calling it quits, in March 2021, Pollard became only the third player in the history of men’s international cricket to hit six sixes in an over. He joined the likes of Herschelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh.
Furthermore, Pollard after his latest knock in CPL 2024 match against Saint Lucia Kings, has become only the second batter after Chris Gayle to hit most sixes in T20s. He stands just 170 shy of Gayle’s record of most sixes (1056).
