Skipper MS Dhoni played a great role as a finisher as Chennai Super Kings got back on winning track in IPL 2025 after five consecutive losses in a row. CSK defeated Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets in match number 30 of the season at Ekana Cricket Stadium. Coming to bat first after losing the toss, LSG didn’t get a great start as they lost two wickets for 23 runs after four overs. After that, Mitchell Marsh and skipper Rishabh Pant did a little recovery and put up a partnership of 50 runs for the third wicket. Marsh got out after scoring 30 off 25 balls hitting two fours and two sixes.
After that, Ayush Badoni joined Rishabh Pant as both the batters added another 32 runs before Badoni got out after scoring 22 runs off 17 balls hitting one four and two sixes. Meanwhile, Pant went on to complete his first 50 for LSG after multiple failures in previous. The-left-hander top scored with 63 runs off 49 balls hitting four fours and four sixes. Along with this, Abdul Samad gave finishing touches with 20*(11) runs as LSG posted 166 runs for the loss of seven wickets.
MS Dhoni - Shivam Dube guided CSK to last-over win
Chasing the winning target, CSK got a flying start as Shaik Rasheed and Rachin Ravindra added 52 runs for the first wicket in 4.5 overs. Rasheed got out after scoring 27(19) runs while Ravindra scored 37 off 22 balls hitting five boundaries. However, CSK lost quick wickets in the middle overs as LSG were back in the game. After that, MS Dhoni joined Shivam Dube at the crease.
MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube put up an unbeaten partnership of 67 runs as CSK chased the winning target in 19.3 overs losing five wickets. Dube top scored with 43(37) runs hitting three fours and two sixes while Dhoni scored a quickfire 26*(11) runs with four fours and a six.
