Skipper Rajat Patidar played a captain’s knock of 132* runs as Madhya Pradesh defeated Bengal by six wickets in match 126 of the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Batting first, Bengal posted 269/7 with skipper Sudip Kumar Ghurami missing his hundred by just one run. After that, Rajat Patidar and Shubham Sharma turned out to be match winners after early wickets as Madhya Pradesh chased the target in 46.2 overs, losing just four wickets. 

Coming to bat after winning the toss, Bengal skipper Sudip Kumar Ghurami led from the front with a splendid but missed out on a well-deserved hundred as he got out after scoring 99(125) runs, hitting six fours and three sixes. Apart from that, Sudip Chatterjee also scored 47(57), while Mohammed Shami gave finishing touches with 42*(34) runs. For MP, Aryan Panday and Avesh Khan took two wickets each, while Saransh Jain and Sagar Solanki scalped a wicket each.

Chasing the winning target, Madhya Pradesh lost both their openers for a duck as the score was reduced to 2/2. After that, skipper Rajat Patidar took charge of the innings along with Shubham Sharma as the duo added 185 runs for the third wicket. After Sudip Kumar in the oppostion, Shubham also missed out on his hundred by just one run as he got out after scoring 99(104) runs with 10 fours and a maximum.

However, Rajat Patidar ended up scoring an unbeaten 132*(137) runs while hitting eight fours and a six as MP chased the winning total with 22 balls to spare. For Bengal, Sayan Ghosh took two scalps, while Mohammed Shami and Kanishk Seth scalped a wicket each.
