The day one of the first Test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai ended with India scoring 339/6 at stumps. The star of the day for India was Ravichandran Ashwin, who scored his sixth Test hundred as India crossed the 300-run mark on day one after losing their first six wickets for 144 runs. Apart from that, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja also scored half-centuries on day 1 for India. Coming to bat first after losing the toss, India didn’t have a great start as they lost three wickets for just 34 runs before lunch.
Fast bowler Hasan Mahmud took big wickets for Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli inside the first 10 overs of day 1. After that, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant put up a partnership of 62 runs for the fourth wicket before Pant lost his wicket to Hasan Mahmud on (39 off 52). After a few overs, Jaiswal (56 off 118) and KL Rahul (16 off 52) also lost their wickets as India were reduced to 144/6. After that, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took charge of the Indian innings.

Coming to bat at the score of 144/6 after 42.2 overs, Ravichandran Ashwin joined Ravindra Jadeja, taking the Indian innings forward. The duo didn’t let any wicket fall for the rest of the day and put up an unbeaten partnership of 195 runs at stumps. Along with that, Ashwin also completed his sixth hundred in Test cricket for India, while Jadeja scored his 20th half-century in the longest format.
The star duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have ruled with their spin bowling over the years. For now, both the players took charge with the bat when India lost their key players early on day one of the first Test match against Bangladesh. Ashwin finished the day with 102*(112) runs scoring 10 fours and two sixes, while Jadeja scored 86*(117) with 10 fours and two maximums, needing just 14 runs to complete his hundred on day 2.
