Ryan Rickelton went on to score his maiden double hundred in Test cricket during the ongoing second Test against Pakistan at the Newlands in Cape Town. Along with Rickelton, skipper Temba Bavuma and Kyle Verreynne also scored respective centuries as the Proteas posted a mammoth total of 615 runs in the first innings. Notably, South Africa are currently leading the two-match Test series 1-0 after a two-wicket win in the first Test in Centurion.
Batting first, South Africa got a good start as Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton added 61 runs for the first wicket. Markram got out after scoring 17(40) runs, hitting three boundaries. After that, the Proteas lost two wickets as the score was reduced to 72/3. After that, skipper Temba Bavuma joined Rickelton at the crease as the duo made a recovery with a partnership of 235 runs for the fourth wicket.

Temba Bavuma got out after playing a captain’s knock of 106(179) runs, hitting nine fours and two fours, while Ryan Rickelton also completed his second hundred in Test cricket. After that, Rickelton put up another big partnership of 148 runs with Kyle Verreynne. Between this, Rickelton finally completed his maiden Test double ton, becoming the first South African opener to score a double hundred in home Tests.
Ryan Rickleton got out after a marathon knock of 259(343) runs, hitting 29 fours and three sixes. Apart from that, Kyle Verreynne also reached a triple figures mark as he scored 100(147) runs hitting nine fours and five sixes. After that, Marco Jansen and Kehsav Maharaj also contributed with 62(54) and 40(35) runs respectively as South Africa were bowled out for 615 runs in 141.3 overs. For Pakistan, Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Abbas scalped three-three wickets while Mir Hamza and Khurram Shahzad took two scalps each.
