Tamil Nadu batter Sai Sudharsan came up with his maiden double century in First-Class cricket on day one of the Ranji Trophy clash against Delhi. Tamil Nadu were up against Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday, October 18. Owing to his maiden double hundred, Tamil Nadu put themselves up in a commanding position with 379 runs in their first innings with the loss of only one wicket. Sudharsan added 168 runs for the opening stand with N Jagadeesan, and another 211-run unbeaten stand for the second wicket with Washington Sundar.
The match started with Delhi skipper Himmat Singh winning the toss and opting to field first. It goes without saying that Singh had to pay a heavy price for misreading the conditions, and was completely fooled by the covering of grass as the pitch turned out to be flat in nature. By the end of the first day, Sudharsan remained not out on 202 runs off 259 deliveries with a combination of 23 boundaries and one maximum.
