Skipper Shan Masood from the front after Pakistan were forced to follow-on in the second Test against South Africa at the Newlands in Cape Town. In reply to South Africa’s mammoth 615-run total in the first innings, Pakistan were bowled out for 194 as the hosts took a mammoth first innings lead of 421. Already leading the series 1-0, the Proteas enforced follow-on against Pakistan.

However, Pakistan performed completely different while batting in the second innings. Coming to overhaul the lead of 421 runs, Pakistan got a great start in the second innings as Shan Masood and Babar Azam put up an opening partnership of 205 runs. Babar got out after scoring 81(124) runs with 10 fours. After that, Masood went on to score his sixth Test hundred for Pakistan in his career.

Shan Masood scores century as Pakistan set 58-run target for South Africa

After getting out for just two runs in the first innings, Shan Masood made a great comeback with the bat in the second innings, and ended up scoring 145 runs off 251 balls after hitting 17 fours. However, after that, Pakistan lost wickets regulary before being bowled out for 478 runs in their second innings, to set a target of 58 runs for South Africa.

Talking about match summary, batting first, South Africa posted 615 in the first innings with Ryan Rickelton top scoring with 259(343) runs, along with respective hundreds by skipper Temba Bavuma and Kyle Verreynne. In reply, Pakistan were bowled out for 194 runs, with Kagiso Rabada taking three wickets. Along with Rabada, Kwena Maphaka and Keshav Maharaj took two scalps each, while Wiaan Mulder and Marco Jansen scalped a wicket each.
