India Women thrashed all their previous records in the third and final ODI against Ireland Women Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot on Wednesday, January 15. Opening batter Pratika Rawal came up with her maiden international hundred while skipper Smriti Mandhana also smashed the fastest ODI hundred for Women in Blue as they clinched the series by 3-0. Batting first, India Women posted 435/5 in their 50 overs, while Ireland Women were bowled out for just 131 runs in 31.4 overs.
With this, India Women also registered their biggest win by runs in ODI cricket as they defeated Ireland Women by a huge margin of 304 runs. Coming to bat first after winning the toss, India had a great start as Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana put up an opening partnership of 233 runs in 26.4 overs. Pratika Rawal went on to score her maiden ODI hundred and top scored with a knock of 154(129) runs, hitting 20 fours and a maximum.
Smriti Mandhana smashes fastest ODI ton for India Women
India’s skipper Smriti Mandhana also achieved a new feat as she smashed the fastest ODI hundred for India Women. The left-hander completed her hundred in just 70 balls, surpassing Harmanpreet Kaur’s records of 87-ball hundred, which had come in 2024. Mandhana scored 135(80) runs with 12 fours and seven sixes, while Richa Ghosh also shone with 59(42) runs as India Women posted a record total of 435/5 at the end of their 50 overs.
In reply to India Women’s mammoth total, Sarah Forbes top scored with 41(44) runs while Orla Prendergast scored 36(43). However, none of the other batters could stay at the crease for long as Ireland Women were bowled out for a mere 131 runs with more than 18 overs remaining.
