Just a few days after his record-breaking 28-ball century, Gujarat batter Urvil Patel continued his rage with the bat in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The right-hander smashed his second hundred of the season as Gujarat defeated Uttarakhand by eight wickets to register their fifth win in the ongoing tournament. With this win, Gujarat are now at the second position in the points table.
Notably, Urvil Patel achieved the record for scoring the fastest hundred by an Indian batter in T20 cricket after he reached the triple figures in just 28 balls in a match against Tripura in Indore on November 27. Now, the opening batter continued his fiery batting in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as he completed his hundred in just 36 balls in a match against Uttarakhand.
Urvil Patel smashes 115*(41) to take Gujarat home
Talking about the match, Uttarakhand posted a total of 182/7 in their 20 overs while batting first. Ravikumar Samarth and Aditya Tare scored 54 runs each while Kunal Chandela also contributed with 43 runs off 27 balls. For Gujarat, Vishal Jayswal took four wickets, Arzan Nagwaswalla scalped two, while Hemang Patel put one in his bag.
Chasing the winning total, Gujarat again got a fiery start as Urvil Patel and Aarya Desai added 72 runs for the first wicket in 4.2 overs. Desai got out after scoring 23(13) runs, while Abhishek Desai also left after a quickfire 14(7) runs. After that, Urvil put up an unbeaten partnership of 97 runs with skipper Axar Patel ias Gujarat chased the target in just 13.1 overs. Urvil Patel smashed 115*(41) along with eight fours and 11 sixes, while Axar also remained unbeaten on 28*(18) hitting two sixes.
