In match number 28 of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated inaugural title winners, Rajasthan Royals (RR) by nine wickets to get to their fourth win away from home in the ongoing edition. Winning the toss and electing to bowl first, RCB restricted the hosts, RR to 173/4 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
In pursuit of the 174-run target, Phil Salt and Virat Kohli gave a brisk start for the visitors, thus stitching 92-run stand for the opening wicket. Although, a combined effort from Kumar Kartikeya and Yashasvi Jaiswal cut short Phil Salt’s inning, dismissing the England international for 65 off 33, Virat Kohli continued his onslaught, bringing his 100th T20 half-century.

The 36-year-old, who played a match-winning knock of 62* off 45 deliveries, etched his name in record books. With this knock, Kohli became the first Indian to score 100 half-centuries in T20 cricket. While he marked his third 50-plus score in the IPL 2025, he now boasts of 100 50s, nine 100s in 405 T20 matches.
Kohli sits second after former Australia cricketer David Warner, who has 108 50s and eight half-centuries in the all-time list of most T20 half-centuries. Moreover, Kohli with this knock once again reaffirmed his status as modern day great, leading the charts which also consists of Babar Azam (90 50s), Chris Gayle (88) and Jos Buttler (86).
