On Tuesday, April 15, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) pulled off a thrilling win over defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur in a nail-biting thriller in IPL 2025. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Shreyas Iyer-led side were reduced to 111/10 in 15.3 overs. While Priyansh Arya (22) and Prabhsimran Singh (30) started the innings decently, but the lineup eventually fell to KKR’s bowling attack.
Star pacer, Harshit Rana proved to be the wrecker-in-chief, picking three quick wickets inside the powerplay, Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine bagged two whereas Vaibhav Arora and Anrich Nortje also got one each to their name. However, the score looked low, but on the back of Yuzvendra Chahal’s disciplined bowling, the hosts defended the total with ease in 15.1 overs.

In pursuit of the 112-run target, KKR lost both its openers cheaply, skipper Ajinkya Rahane (17 off 17) Angkrish Raghuvanshi (37 off 28) looked good, hoping to turn the game around in the run chase, but quick fall of wickets on the other end, put them in the backfoot. Andre Russell’s late onslaught raised some hope in the KKR camp, but the PBKS bowlers, especially Yuzvendra Chahal’s bowling effort restricted them to below 100.
Chahal finished with the figures of 4/28 n his four over spell, winning the Player of the Match away, Marco Jansen also bowled a crucial spell. Moreover, Chahal also joined Sunil Narine with most four-wicket hauls in IPL history. This spell was also Chahal’s third four-plus wicket haul against KKR, the most by a bowler against an opponent in the IPL.
