Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif made shocking claims and accused the Pakistan Cricket Board of not paying salaries to cricketers. Along with this, Latif also claimed that the PCB officials, including chairman Zaka Ashraf, have been ignoring Babar Azam’s messages. Latif’s remarks came at a crucial time when the team was already on the brink of elimination from the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.

The former skipper’s accusation came after Pakistan’s one-wicket loss against South Africa on October 27, Friday. Latif claimed on PTV Sports, "Babar Azam has been messaging the chairman. But he is not responding. He even texted Salman Naseer (PCB COO). But he did not respond either. What it is the reason that he is not responding to his captain? Then, you are giving out a press release. You are also saying the central contracts will be redone.”

Latif added, “Players have not received salaries for five months. Should the players listen to you?.” Recent reports claimed that Pakistan players have been ignored by the PCB officials. Not only this, but the Pakistan cricket governing body also hinted about re-evaluating Babar Azam’s captaincy on the basis of his recent performances.

PCB released a statement that read, “Captain Babar Azam and Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq were given freedom and support in forming the squad for the ICC World Cup 2023. Looking ahead, the board will make decisions in the best interest of Pakistan cricket based on the team's performances in the World Cup. At present, the PCB encourages fans, former players and stakeholders to rally behind the team as they strive to make a triumphant comeback in the mega-event."

The Men in Green will now take on Bangladesh in their next clash at the World Cup on October 31 at Eden Gardens.
