3. Sanju Samson
Fans’ favourite, Sanju Samson, has failed to cement his place in the Indian limited-overs team since making his debut in 2015. However, his form in the last few IPL editions and impressive international outings have put him in a sweet spot. He was recently named in the ODI squad for the Sri Lanka series to be played in January.
To everyone’s surprise, Samson can also be a replacement for
Pant in Test cricket due to his experience and track record in Whites.
In 58 first-class matches, he has garnered 3,446 runs at an average of 38.71,
with 10 centuries. He returned with knocks of 82,69 and 72 in the Ranji Trophy
2022. Looking at his form, Sanju can certainly turn out to be a quality option
for the selectors, which can also be favourable for the long-term plan.
