Pooja Vastrakar, the Indian women’s cricketer, has apologised for a now deleted-post on her Instagram, in which she mocked the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders. She remarked that “a highly objectionable image” was posted from her account, but at that time, the phone was not in her possession.
The 24-year-old, one of the most promising all-rounders in Indian cricket, has been at the forefront of the new era for the Women in Blue in the last few years. Pooja Vastrakar made her debut for the Indian cricket team in the year 2018, and since then, her contributions with the bat, ball, and especially in the field, have added to the strength and depth of the national setup.
After the screenshot of the controversial Instagram post from Pooja Vastrakar, criticising PM Modi, went viral on social media, she sent out her apology on the matter. It had her indicating that the post might have been made by someone else.
The statement from the Madhya Pradesh cricketer read, “Hi, It has come to my attention that a highly objectionable image was posted from my Instagram account. This happened at a time that my phone was not in my possession. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the Honorable Prime Minister and sincerely apologise for the hurt this has caused.”
Notably, the image reposted by Pooja Vastrakar was originally shared online by the Haryana Congress on their official Instagram account on Thursday, March 28.
