India pacer Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the series against New Zealand A with a back injury. Krishan did not feature in the playing XI for the first four-day Test that started on Thursday (September 1). The pacer’s injury was identified on the eve of the first game. Notably, India A led by Priyank Panchal are locking horns with New Zealand in a four-day game in Bengaluru.

Krishna has back spasms and hence will not be able to take part in any of the games between the two sides. In the absence of the only experience bowler, Krishna, the team went in with four bowlers, Mukesh Kumar, Yash Dayal, Arzan Nagwaswalla and Kuldeep Yadav. Part-timer Tilak Varma chipped in with a few overs on Day One.

Cricbuzz reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Selection Committee has not decided on a replacement yet and might consult with the management headed by VVS Laxman before taking a call. “A decision has still not been taken on whether the selectors will have to name a replacement. There may be consultation with the team management, headed by VVS Laxman before that call is taken,” read an excerpt of the report.

There are two more four-day games in the series from September 8 and September 15. Apart from the three four-day games, the New Zealand A team will also play three one-day matches, all at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on September 22, 25 and 27.
