On Monday, October 21, Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw was dropped from the Mumbai squad for their upcoming Ranji Trophy clash against Tripura later this month after defeating Maharashtra. The senior selection committee of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) picked a 16-member squad for their trip to the MBB Stadium in Agartala to take on Tripura in the Elite A group match from October 26 to 29.

In the ongoing 2024-25 season of domestic red-ball cricket, Prithvi Shaw has scored just 139 runs in six innings at an average of 27.80, with his highest score being 76 for Mumbai against Rest of India (ROI) in the Irani Cup. The lack of consistency from the right-handed opening batter, especially in the first innings of each of the three games this season, with his scores reading 4, 7, 1, must have played a key role in swaying the selectors to not send him to a trip to Agartala later this month.
