Delhi Capitals opening batter Prithvi Shaw is likely to miss the initial stage of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). The 17th edition of the tournament, the biggest T20 franchise league in the world, is likely to kickstart on March 22 or 23. However, the schedule is till awaited, it is expected to be out soon.

However, ahead of the 2024 edition of the tournament, the Delhi-based franchise might have got a hiccup as Shaw continue to recover from the knee injury. The 24-year-old is still recovering from a knee injury he sustained while playing for Northamptonshire in the One-Day Cup in England. As per a report published by Cricbuzz, Shaw will take another month to make his return into competitive cricket, depending on his recovery.

“According to sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Shaw (24), who has been out of action since August last year due to a knee ligament injury, will be put through a more rigorous workload over the next three week to assess if his knee can endure the increased demands,” Cricbuzz stated.

However, the Mumbai batter is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and will have to play a few games before stepping into competitive cricket.

Moreover, there have been reports of Mohammed Shami missing the IPL due to an injury he sustained at the ODI World Cup in India. However, the status of his injury remains unconfirmed, his presence could prove to be crucial for the Gujarat Titans, who will be led by Shubman Gill after Hardik Pandya’s trade to MI.
