Top-order batter Shubman Gill completed a stellar century against England as he carried Team India out of trouble in the second Test of the five-match series. After a string of disappointing results, Gill rallied through to score his third century in Test cricket. Ahead of this series, critics and fans alike weren't confident with the young Indian batter's place in the Test side with his massive dip in form.

These criticisms continued as the 24-year-old put forth a disappointing performance in the first Test as well with scores of 23 in 66 and 0 in 2. Then in the second Test, Gill got off to a decent start but perished against a charged-up James Anderson after scoring 34 in 46 balls. But when Team India was in trouble in the second innings, Gill shut down his critics and scored a near-flawless ton.
