Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu ended her French Open 2023 campaign in a bizarre turn of events as she struggled to play with an injury. The Indian ace shuttler ended her French Open 2023 after conceding her second round against Thailand’s Supanida Katethong.
The 28-year-old shuttler has now taken to X to hare an update on her injury. She added that her team has found a niggle in her left knee and her decision to withdraw was the best call. “After returning from France and undergoing a knee scan, we’ve found a niggle in my left knee. In hindsight, conceding the match was the best call. Doctors have decided a few weeks rest before I begin training again”, she wrote.
Sindhu also added that she will see this opportunity to focus on Olympics 2024. “The break is also an opportunity to focus on the upcoming Olympics”, she added. While extending her gratitude, she assured to be back on the court very soon.
The 28-year-old, who entered the French Open 2023 on the back of semifinal loss at the Denmark and Arctic Open 2023, beat seventh-seeded Gregoria Mariska Tunjung from Indonesia 12-21, 21-18, 21-15. Sindhu also reclaimed a spot in the Top 10 in the recently released BWF Rankings on October 24.
