Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has taken an X user to the cleaners for attributing a quote regarding the retirements of India captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to him. In the past few months, Rohit and Virat didn’t have a great time with their bats during the red-ball series against New Zealand at home and Australia tour. Following their recent form, there are speculations that both India veterans might hang up their boots after the conclusion of the Champions Trophy 2025. India, who will take on New Zealand in the final of the ODI extravaganza on March 9, will play their fourth consecutive ICC final under Rohit’s captaincy.
A day before the big game, Ashwin debunked the claims regarding the post of an X user who claimed former India spin-wizard said, “Ravi Ashwin said - As far as I know Rohit is targeting 2027 ODI World Cup while you may see Virat Kohli hanging up his boots soon because he wants to spend more time with his young family that is what Virat discussed to me few months back.(Via his YT channel).”
Countering the claim, Ashwin displayed his sarcastic side and took on X to write, "Heartwarming to see humans still excelling at creative storytelling in this AI era. Nice script but maybe check with me next time before casting me in the lead role?"
Ashwin will strive to be impactful for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025
R. Ashwin will be seen serving Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025. The 38-year-old was a vital part of the Yellow Army from 2008 to 2015. Back in 2011, he played a crucial role in CSK’s second title win with his 20 wickets in 16 matches at an economy of 6.15. With these numbers, he also ended up as the fourth-leading wicket-taker in that edition.
The 38-year-old will be back in CSK after 10 years and he will reunite with his former Team India colleague Ravindra Jadeja and form a formidable spin-bowling duo for the side. CSK will kick off their campaign against their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 23.
