After winning the T20I series by 2-1, Afghanistan are set to face hosts Zimbabwe for a three-match ODI series starting on December 17. Before that, Afghanistan got a double blow as wicket keeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz and spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman have been ruled out of the ODI series as confirmed by the Afghanistan Cricket Board. 

In their statement, Afghanistan Cricket Board mentioned that Rahmanullah Gurbaz has suffered Grade 2B quadriceps injury along with a bony hip flexor injury. The board has called 19-year-old Mohammad Ishaq as Gurbaz’s replacement in the 50-over series. The board also confirmed that Mujeeb Ur Rehman has been given rest for the ODI series against ZImbabwe. 

Sam Curran’s brother Ben Curran set to make ODI debut for Zimbabwe

Ben Curran, who is brother of English cricketers Sam Curran and Tom Curran, is also likely to make his international debut for Zimbabwe in the ODI series against Afghanistan. Born in Northampton, Ben has played played domestic cricket for Northamptonshire and was also a part of Marylebone Cricket Club Young Cricketers. Coming from a renowned cricketing family, Ben’s brothers Sam and Tom play for England in international cricket, while their father Kevin Curran have also played for Zimbabwe from 1983 to 1987.
