Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan is among the top retentions ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. He was the first player to get retained by Gujarat Titans (GT) for the upcoming edition at a whopping ₹18 Crore. Along with him, GT also included skipper Shubman Gill (₹16.5 Crore), Rahul Tewatia (₹ 4 Crore), Sai Sudharsan (₹8.5 Crore) and Shahrukh Khan (₹4 Crore) in the list of their retained players for IPL 2025.
Rashid Khan has been a crucial part of Gujarat Titans from the last few years. He played a monumental role in GT’s title triumph in 2022, taking 19 wickets with the ball. He also had even greater season in IPL 2023, picking 27 scalps as GT finished as the runners-up that season. He also impressed with his captaincy, leading Afghanistan to the semi-final of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Rashid Khan came into the limelight during the 2016 T20 World Cup, where the leg spinner finished as second highest wicket-taker of the tournament at the age of 17 years with 11 scalps in seven matches. A year later, Rashid made his IPL debut in 2017 after Sunrisers Hyderabad roped him in for ₹4 Crore. His IPL salary was increased to ₹9 Crore in 2018. After five years with SRH, Rashid was released by the franchise and was picked by Gujarat Titans for a whopping ₹15 Crore ahead of IPL 2022. He has been retained by GT again ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction.
Talking about his salary, Rashid Khan’s IPL salary has now been increased from ₹15 Crore in IPL 2024 to ₹18 Crore in IPL 2025. He has been a spearhead spinner for GT over the years, and is likely to complete his quota of four overs in every game in IPL 2025. As GT are confirmed to play 14 league matches in the season, Rashid is likely to bowl 336 balls in the league stage . This means that the leg spinner will earn ₹5,53,714 per ball in IPL 2025. However, if GT makes it to the playoffs and even qualify for the finals, they will not play more than 17 matches in a whole IPL season, which means Rashid Khan can also bowl a total of 408 balls in IPL 2025. According to this, he will earn around ₹4.42 Lakh for every ball in an IPL season.
