Indian spinning wizard Ravichandran Ashwin reacted to former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad’s comment and lauded Sri Lanka’s Pramod Madushan. First Prasad heaped praise on the Sri Lankan pointing out that he showed great awareness in their ‘do or die’ match against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023 on September 14, Thursday.

Madushan used a clever tactic, and though he ended up getting dismissed, it guided their side to a victory against Pakistan. With this, the Dasun Shanaka men made it to the final of the Asia Cup 2023.

The tactic impressed Prasad, and he took to Twitter to heap praise on the 29-year-old cricketer. Not only this, but he also mentioned that it would have left the Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin impressed as he is known for following rules.

The 54-year-old wrote, “Great game awareness from Pramod Madushan yesterday night. Did not leave the crease until Asalanka made it. Very impressive. @ashwinravi99 probably one of the finest at making good use of the rules would be v impressed.”

Reacting to it, the Indian veteran spinner wrote, “Absolutely! Just He missed the ball, Asalanka was charging down the pitch (high octane pressure) and yet this guy stood his ground until the keeper missed his attempt and then started running. All I can say is that these sort of reactions come from practice and this happens mostly in Tennis ball cricket.”

During the match, while Charith Asalanka ran to the other end for a single, Madushan stayed back and ensured that the throw passed the stumps. With this, the cricketer ensured that his teammate didn’t get out despite knowing that he would be dismissed. Despite sacrificing his wicket, Madushan helped his side gain a 2-wicket win over their counterparts and reserved their slot in the finale.

Sri Lanka are set to lock horns with India in the highly-anticipated final encounter on September 17, Sunday in Colombo.
