India were dealt a major blow when their star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup with a knee injury. Jadeja’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup was also put at stake as a knee injury takes at least six to eight weeks to heal. However, coach Rahul Dravid refrained from ruling out the all-rounder saying there is ample time in the global event.

Now, Jadeja has given an update on his injury as the all-rounder shared a post on social media. Jadeja shared a picture of him from the hospital bed after undergoing successful knee surgery. The 33-year-old thanked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), his teammates, support staff, physios, doctors and his fans. Jadeja also hoped to return to cricketing action.

"The surgery was successful. There are many people to thank for their support and involvement - BCCI, my teammates, support staff, physios, doctors and the fans. I will start my rehab soon and try to get back to cricket soon as I can. Thank you to everyone for your kind wishes," the player wrote on his social media.

Notably, after successful surgery, the all-rounder will be heading to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to start his rehabilitation.

India missing Jadeja

After Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out of the team, India’s team balance has gone for a toss. Although Axar Patel was added to the squad as a like-for-like replacement, he has not featured in any game. With Jadeja gone, the team management is missing an all-rounder who can bat as a floater and also chip in with economical overs.

With so many right-handed batters in the team, Jadeja was promoted up the order against Pakistan (in the group stage match) to maintain a left-right combination which worked pretty well for the team. But now, as he is not a part of the team, Rishabh Pant has been added to provide that left-right combo. However, it does not seem to be working as Pant fell cheaply against Pakistan (in the Super 4 match).
