The Men in Blue will take on South Africa in the rainbow nation in a multi-format series, starting December 10. While Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side in the three-match T20I series, KL Rahul will take the charge in the ODIs, while skipper Rohit Sharma will return for the two Tests, set to be played later this year and early in January 2024.
However, the first batch of the Indian squad has already landed in South Africa, Indian opener Shubman Gill, vice-captain Ravindra Jadeja and Deepak Chahar are yet to join the side. While Gill and Jadeja were rested from the five-match T20I series against Australia, which the Suryakumar Yadav-led side won 4-1, Deepak Chahar, who was part of the squad for the Australia series left the camp to fly to Aligarh to be with his ill father.
But as per reports, all members of the squad for the T20Is series will reach before the first match at Kingsmead in Durban. While the Indian all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja will travel directly from Europe, Gill is also likely to join the team in Durban ahead of the first T20I from the UK. Talking about Deepak Chahar, the Indian bowler hasn’t informed on the timeline of his return after the medical emergency, reports suggest that he will be with the side soon.
Additionally, it is to be noted that all the three players had informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
