The Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) got their first points on the board in the IPL 2024 after they beat the Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings on Monday, March 25 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, Virat Kohli stole the limelight after his crucial 77-run knock, along with a quickfire inning from Dinesh Karthik, the RCB bowlers also did their part.
Among the bowlers, while Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell finished with two wickets each, Yash Dayal and Alzarri Joseph got a wicket each. Former India cricketer Murali Kartik, who was in the commentary panel during the RCB vs PBKS match in Bengaluru, dropped a nasty remark on the RCB pacer, despite a decent performance.
During Kartik’s commentary stint in RCB versus PBKS match, he was caught saying, “Someone’s trash is someone’s treasure”, recalling Yash Dayal’s infamous performance where he was hit for five sixes in a row by Rinku Singh. However, netizens trolled the former Indian off-spinner for his “trash” remarks, the Bengaluru-based franchise also took to X to hit out at the former cricketer.
“He’s treasure. Period”, RCB captioned the post with Yash Dayal’s picture in the IPL 2024 jersey. The three-word message is now doing rounds on social media.
Not only this, comedian and RCB host Danish Sait, who is fondly referred as “Mr. Nags”, also slammed Karthik for his “trash” remark. “How do you say some’s trash is someone’s treasure? You just called Yash Dayal on air! Like what even?” Sait captioned a post on X.
The Faf du Plessis-led RCB are currently placed sixth on the points table and will next take on Kolkata Knight Riders on March 29 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
