During the 52nd IPL match of the IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru completed the team hat-trick in the final over of the innings against Gujarat Titans after Vijaykumar Vyshak picked up the wicket of Vijay Shankar. It led to RCB bundling out GT for 147 before chasing down the total with four wickets and 38 balls to spare.

In the 20th over of the innings, Vijaykumar Vyshak picked up the wicket of Manav Suthar on the first ball, bowling it short with pace off, which the left-handed batter could only hit to Swapnil Singh at deep point. On the next ball, Mohit Sharma, who was aiming to get Vijay Shankar on strike, got run out for a golden duck on the non-striker’s end after some good work from wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik and Vijaykumar Vyshak himself.

The third ball of the over saw Vijaykumar Vyshak bowl another short ball outside the off stump, which Vijay Shankar could only manage to get a top edge towards the short third region where Mohammed Siraj took the catch. With three wickets in three balls in the last over of the innings, Royal Challengers Bangalore completed the team hat-trick against Gujarat Titans, finishing off their innings for 147 runs.

In the run chase, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain, Faf du Plessis, and Virat Kohli batted exceptionally well, putting together 92 runs in just 5.5 overs of their innings to put them in control of the match. But, in search of an NRR boost, to keep their IPL playoff hopes alive, RCB lost six wickets in quick succession to give GT a sniff in the game, but Dinesh Karthik and Swapnil Singh found a way to take them over the finishing line in just 13.4 overs.

With their third straight win in the IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru are still in the mix to finish in the top four, while Gujarat Titans are behind them on NRR.
