With her fighting knock of 90*(56) against Up Warriorz at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday, star Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Ellyse Perry has now surpassed Delhi Capitals skipper Meg Lanning to become all-time leading run scorer in the history of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Notably, Perry scored her second consecutive fifty of the WPL 2025 and also became the first batter to cross 800 runs in the history of the tournament.
Ellyse Perry has now scored 835 runs from 21 matches in her WPL career so far. In these 21 matches, Perry batted with an average of 64.23 hitting seven half-centuries. On the other hand, DC skipper Meg Lanning is now on the second spot in the list of leading run getters in WPL with 782 runs from 22 matches at an average of 39.10 hitting seven fifties. Another DC batter Shafali Verma is the highest run getter among Indian batters in WPL with 654 runs from 22 averaging at 32.70.
UP Warriors defeat RCB in thrilling super over clash
Talking about the match, the defending champions RCB suffered their second consecutive loss of the season as UP Warriorz defeated them in a thrilling super over in Bengaluru on February 24. Batting first, RCB posted 180/6 with the help of Ellyse Perry’s 90*(56) runs and Danni wyatt Hodge’s 57-run knock off 41 balls. In reply, the Warriorz were also bowled out for 180 runs leading the game to a super over.
In the super over, UP Warriors ended up scoring 8 runs in six balls. In reply, RCB could only reach 4 runs in their six balls as UP Warriorz registered a thrilling win. Despite the loss, RCB are still standing at the top of the points table with two wins and as many losses in four matches so far.
