Real Madrid, the 15-time UEFA Champions League winners, are reportedly targeting a £90 million move for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernades, 30, in the upcoming summer transfer window. It is understood that Real Madrid officials have been spotted at every home and away match involving Bruno Fernandes for Manchester United over the past few weeks, to scout for arguably the top player of the English footballing giants currently.
As per the report from the Daily Star, the potential of such a big move for Bruno Fernandes to Real Madrid, is expected to create rumblings at Manchester United, who have been trying to navigate through their financial issues in the best way possible. It is understood that Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, wouldn’t want to see the Portuguese star leave them, and especially not the fans of the club.
Real Madrid are also eyeing a move for Trent Alexander-Arnold in the summer
But at the same time, with Manchester United management making cuts to raise more money to run the club as smoothly as possible, they will probably have to entertain the thought of selling Bruno Fernandes for a big sum of money, to ease their woes somewhat. Real Madrid are expected to be very busy in the transfer market in the upcoming summer window since they are planning to overhaul their squad for the future under manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Apart from Bruno Fernandes, the Galacticos are also eyeing a move for Trent Alexander-Arnold, 26, whose current contract with Premier League leaders Liverpool expires at the end of the ongoing season. A potential move from Real Madrid to sign Bruno Fernandes could be interpreted as an attempt from the club to replace their legendary player Luka Modric, who is currently 39 years of age.
Notably, earlier in the ongoing 2024-25 season, the Croatian became the oldest player to represent Real Madrid in their illustrious history.
