With the five-match Test series moving to the home of India’s most successful captain, MS Dhoni in Ranchi, the Ben Stokes-led England were handed a massive blow. Ahead of the fourth Test, which is scheduled to be played from February 23 to 27 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) informed that Rehan Ahmed will miss the remainder of the series.
ECB in its statement confirmed that the England spinner has flown back home and will not return for the remainder of the tour. “Rehan Ahmed will return home for personal reasons with immediate effect from England Men’s Test tour of India. They also informed that the board will not be announcing his replacement for the rest of the tour. It is to be noted that Ahmed featured in the first three Tests against India and was replaced by Shoaib Bashir in the fourth Test in Ranchi. In the three Tests, Ahmed picked up a total of 11 wickets, with his impressive coming in the second Test in Vizag, which India won by 106 runs.
