Wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul is likely to be seen batting in the middle-order for Delhi Capitals in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. As per the reports by Times of India, DC need an experienced batter in the middle-order after Harry Brook pulled out of the upcoming season which led to his ban from the league for two years.

KL Rahul has been batting in the middle-order in the ODI format for India from the last few years and has also good records while batting down the order. He also played a crucial role in India’s recent Champions Trophy triumph. However, he has been batting as an opener throughout the years in the IPL career.

“The DC think tank has been mulling over this since the preparations for the team’s camp got underway. With decent options at the top and a lack of experience in the middle, including a last-minute pullout by Harry Brook, it was in the larger interest of the team to have the right-hander do something which he hasn’t done very often in the format – bat in the middle order," the report by the TOI said.

Faf du Plessis to open with Jake Fraser-McGurk in IPL 2025?

As KL Rahul is expected to bat in the middle-order, Delhi Capitals are likely with the opening pair of Jake Fraser Mc-Gurk and Faf du Plessis in the upcoming season of the IPL. McGurk has been playing as an opening batter for DC since IPL 2025 and has been impressive with his strike rate throughout the season.

On the other hand, Faf du Plessis has been playing as an opener throughout his IPL career and has great records while batting at this position. He is likely to bat with McGurk as both the batters could be seen opening the innings for DC in IPL 2025.
