Indian cricketer Rinku Singh has been declared fit to take part in the final two T20Is against England in the ongoing five-match series after recovering from a low back spasm. Ryan ten Doeschate, the Indian assistant coach, provided the fitness update about Rinku Singh to the media ahead of the fourth T20I of the series at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune, stating that the left-handed batter practised in the nets a night before.
Notably, Rinku Singh suffered the back issue during the first T20I at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, which forced the Indian team management to rule him out for the next two matches in the series. After the conclusion of the first three matches between India and England, the hosts possess a 2-1 lead in the series, but with the visitors securing a convincing win in the third T20I a couple of nights ago at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, it’s still everything to play for.
Ramandeep Singh was drafted in Indian T20I squad after injury to Rinku Singh
In the pre-match press conference, Ryan ten Doeschate discussed the status of Rinku Singh’s injury, which had forced him to sit out of two consecutive T20I matches for the Indian cricket team. As per the post on the social media platform X from a journalist of the PTI, Ryan ten Doeschate was quoted as saying, “Rinku Singh is fit and ready to play tomorrow. He batted last night,” declaring his availability for the fourth T20I.
Moreover, in the absence of Rinku Singh, the Indian selection committee had drafted in Ramandeep Singh, his Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teammate, as a back-up in the squad. While the all-rounder is still part of the Indian cricket team for the remainder of the series, it is highly likely that Rinku Singh will make the playing XI for the next match in Pune on Friday, January 31.
Following a tough defeat by 26 runs in the third T20I a couple of nights ago, India will be looking to make amends with a convincing performance against England in the next match of the series.
