Leaks suggest that the new agent will be a controller. Riot Games drops easter eggs in its in-game assets like Player Cards and Sprays. One such easter egg was seen in the Episode 8 Act 1 Battle Pass and the players quickly quick realised it was the next new Valorant agent.
The Battle Pass features a peculiar player card and has purple and yellow covering it. Along with it, the battle pass also has a silhouette similar to that of a big butterfly in the center with smaller ones on the boundaries of the player card. The renowned leaker ValorLeaks on Twitter posted a picture of the card while captioning it, "New Agent Teaser | #VALORANT. Agent seems to be a Controller." The leaker added, "Card belongs towards the agent codenamed 'SmokeDancer.”
As per ValorLeaks, the new agent will be a new ‘Controller’ and is expected to be released during the Valorant Episode 8 Act 2 in March 2024. If reports are to be believed, then Agent codenamed SmokeDancer will be the sixth controller in Valorant. There are already five controllers in the game.
Notably, the controller agents come with the ability to assist teammates by denying enemies' vision as well as taking control of an area and forcing enemies into choke points. The five controllers in the game are Brimstone, Viper, Omen, Astra, and Harbor. The last two agents released in 2023 were Deadlock: Sentinel and Iso: Duelist.
