According to reports, India's star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is set to stay out of cricketing action for a period of 18 months. Pant reportedly suffered significant ligament damage during the December 2022 car accident and need a lot of recovery time before taking the field again.

The long recovery time means, Pant is set to miss some big cricketing events which are set to be played in the next 18 months. Apart from this year’s IPL, Pant is likely to miss the 50-over World Cup, the entire World Test Championship cycle, half of next year’s World Test Championship cycle, IPL 2024, and the T20 World Cup in June next year.
Rishabh Pant is currently at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. Earlier this month, the batter had successful surgery on his ligament. The 25-year-old will undergo one more surgery in the next 6 weeks. Prior to this, Pant was admitted to the Max Hospital in Dehradun where he underwent plastic surgery. He was later airlifted to Mumbai for further treatment under the supervision of BCCI.
Meanwhile, Team India's next assignment is limited-overs series against New Zealand, starting on January 18.
