Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is set to return in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League for the Delhi Capitals. Pant was ruled out for the entirety of 2023 after suffering a horrific accident on New Year's Eve last year and was left with horrific injuries to his back and ankles. Pant since then has undergone multiple surgeries in hopes of returning in 2024.

Pant is currently in rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and is slated to regain fitness by the end of February. Further, Pant's active participation in IPL games will be based upon the clearance from the NCA managers.
As reported by Cricbuzz, a Delhi Capitals official revealed that he will take on wicketkeeping duties only on Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) clearance. Rather the Delhi native will focus on batting and fielding. The report also shared that the Capitals could use the 26-year-old player through the Impact Player. Cricbuzz further quoted a franchise official, who stated: "If he is not keeping, he will definitely be on the field and will lead the side."

In early November, the 26-year-old joined the training camp of Delhi Capitals at the Jadavpur University Second Campus Cricket Association of Bengal Ground in the Salt Lake area, Kolkata and was involved in some individual drills. During the training session, Delhi Capitals Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly with India Today talked about Rishabh Pant's fitness during the pre-season camp.

The former Indian captain said, “Rishabh Pant is in good shape. He will play from next season. He will not practise now. He is here till 11th November. We had a discussion about the team with Pant as he is the captain of the team, considering the upcoming auctions”.
