The final player retention list ahead of the highly anticipated mega auction in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to be announced by the franchises on Thursday, October 31. According to the latest reports, Delhi Capitals are unlikely to go ahead with the option of retaining their skipper Rishabh Pant. Furthermore, the wicket-keeper batter is likely to join a new franchise ahead of IPL 2025.

Rishabh Pant had a good season in IPL 2024 after a comeback from the disastrous car accident in 2022. The left-hander amassed 446 runs from 13 matches at a strike rate of 155.40. However, he couldn’t led DC to the playoffs in the last season earlier this year. Now, with the new retention rules set for the IPL 2025 mega auction, Pant may not fit in DC’s scheme of things for the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league.

Rishabh Pant might go for 25-30 crores: Aakash Chopra

As Rishabh Pant is likely to leave Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2025, there are reports coming that franchises like Chennai Super Kings and Royals Challengers Bengaluru are looking to bid on him in the mega auction. He has been a part of the DC since his IPL debut in 2016. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra also speculated that the wicket-keeper batter can get around ₹25-₹30 if he goes in the mega auction.

"It's being heard that Rishabh Pant might be available at the auction,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel. "Why would LSG not be interested even if they retain Nicholas Pooran? Everyone apart from Rajasthan would need him. Gujarat will also need him. They don't have a keeper. So overall, Rishabh Pant will get a lot of money. He might go for 25-30 crores," the former Indian cricketer further added.
