India’s one of the most reliable wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who is currently out of the Indian squad, took to his social media platforms to change his bio. The 25-year-old cricketer changed his date of birth to January 5, 2023 on his Instagram as well as Twitter profile. However, his official date of birth remains to be October 4, 1997. Though the India wicketkeeper didn’t make any official statement regarding the same, he wrote that he considers January 5 as his second birth.
Pant met a death-threatening accident on December 30, 2022 when his car hit a divider before flipping many times and catching fire on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. It was on January 5, 2023 and the week following his accident he underwent a successful surgery.
Needless to say, coming out of the fatal accident is nothing less than the cricketer’s second birth, and it is the reason he changed his social media platforms’ bio. In his bio of Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, the Uttarakhand-born cricketer wrote “Second D.O.B:- 05/01/2023”.
Pant is currently at the National Cricket Academy, (NCA) and the BCCI sources who are keeping a track of his progress told that the path of Pant's recovery is a lot better than expected, and it could mean that he can make his comeback in cricket a lot sooner than what was projected earlier. According to the Times of India, a BCCI source said, “He is in good spirits. He can now walk considerably longer without a crutch. The focus of his rehab is now largely on strengthening. He should be back-to-play phase training soon.”
