Riyan Parag, the Indian all-rounder, is likely to make his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in the second match of the series at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, August 4. After India tied the first ODI of the three-match series versus Sri Lanka, the team management is reportedly expected to make personnel changes in the next game.

After making his international debut in the T20I format last month, Riyan Parag has already played six matches for India in the shortest format. He has shown glimpses of his best in the early stages of his career, scoring an enterprising 26 off 18, apart from picking up three wickets in eight balls against Sri Lanka in two different T20I matches.

In the first ODI of the three-match series, India restricted Sri Lanka to 230/8 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. In the run chase, the Indian batting lineup looked in control after the captain Rohit Sharma got off to a flyer, but the rest of the batters weren’t able to take the team across the finishing line, getting bundled out for 230 with 13 balls remaining in the innings.

The most likeliest player to make way for Riyan Parag for the second ODI against Sri Lanka could be Shivam Dube since both players can bowl some overs as a part-timer.

Following the defeat in the first ODI, Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, was quoted as saying, as per ESPNcricinfo, “The scores are gettable, you have to bat well to get that. We batted well in patches, there was no consistent momentum….  It was not a game where you can play your shots, had to apply yourself and dig in. Proud of how we fought, was important to hold our nerve.”
