The Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski was instrumental in Barcelona's triumph, netting twice in the second half. In all competitions, Lewandowski has netted 38 goals, highlighting his critical role in Barcelona's offensive strategy. At 36, his sustained excellence serves as an inspiration, however there have been multiple instances of criticism surrounding the Polish striker and his future in top-tier European football.
Lewandowski responded to these comments by saying that he feels extremely confident about his performance in this season and that is backed up by the stats. He continued to say that he puts in extra effort to maintain his performance levels at this age and feels good to be able to play for a few more years at the top level. He said, “I want to play at the top level for a few more years. There is no difference in few years ago and now in terms of my stats.”
FC Barcelona defeat Girona 4-1 in a dominant display
Talking about the match, the opening half saw Barcelona dominate possession and create multiple scoring opportunities. Despite their efforts, the breakthrough came just before halftime when Girona's defender Ladislav Krejci accidentally deflected a Lamine Yamal free kick into his own net, giving Barcelona a 1-0 lead.
Girona responded early in the second half with Arnaut Danjuma equalizing after a defensive lapse from Barcelona. However, Barcelona quickly regained control as Robert Lewandowski showcased his striking prowess with two goals. His first was an acrobatic finish following a headed pass from Fermín López, and his second came from a swift counter-attack assisted by Frenkie de Jong.
