Roger Federer, the 20-time Grand Slam singles champion, attended the F1 Miami GP this past Sunday, where he was having a great time wandering around the paddock and clicking photos at the same time. The Swiss maestro also visited the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team, besides interacting with their drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, which he termed as an ‘Unforgettable Experience.’
The legendary tennis player took to Instagram to detail his meeting with the Mercedes F1 team while sharing a few candid pictures and wrote, “An unforgettable experience with @mercedesamgf1 Thanks for lending me your car @georgerussell63.”
Sky Sports, which broadcasts F1 in the United Kingdom, caught up with Roger Federer and asked about his experiences of attending F1 till date, to which he said, “This is my third time, yes. I’ve been to Abu Dhabi. The big race was when Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg at that time. And then I did Barcelona qualifying last year which I really enjoyed as well. And now here.”
When Federer was questioned about the dominance of Max Verstappen in F1, he remarked, “Seems like it, seems like he’s obviously got an amazing car and is a great driver too. I still hope that Lewis is gonna have a great race here and hopefully another good season. It’s been amazing, I’ve also got to meet Lewis on many occasions.”
Notably, the Miami GP was won by Max Verstappen, the current two-time F1 world champion from the Netherlands. His Red Bull teammate, Sergio Perez from Mexico, who started the race from pole position, finished in second place. The Spaniard Fernando Alonso took third place for Aston Martin. The Mercedes pair of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton finished in fourth and sixth place respectively at the Miami International Autodrome.
