If reports are to be believed, the couple welcomed their second child on Friday night, November 15 in Mumbai.

The news was confirmed after renowned journalist Vikrant Gupta took to microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to congratulate the couple. “Congratulations Ritika and Rohit Sharma as they have been blessed with a baby boy! The Captain hopefully should be on the flight to Perth in a few days, touch-and-go for the first Test there,” he captioned the post on X.

Rohit Sharma doubtful to feature in XI of Perth Test against Australia

Reports around Rohit Sharma being a father for the second time were long in the news. However, the 37-year-old refrained from commenting on the same, former cricketer Abhinav Mukund after India’s 0-3 drubbing against New Zealand confirmed the development. Soon after India’s 25-run defeat against New Zealand in the third Test, Rohit Sharma was questioned if he would be available for the first Test of the highly-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

“Not sure whether I will be going, fingers crossed,” Rohit Sharma said in Mumbai after the series whitewash against New Zealand. Post that, Team India Head Coach, Gautam Gambhir was also asked on Rohit Sharma’s availablity for the first Test against Australia, which is set to commence from November 22 in Perth. Replying to the query, Gambhir replied, “Look, at the moment, there is no confirmation. We’ll let you guys know what the situation is. Hopefully, he is going to be available. But everything you will get to know at the start of the series.”

Speaking of Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricketer got married on December 13, 2015 to Ritika Sajdeh. The couple three years later, welcomed Samaira, their daughter in 2018 and have welcomed a baby boy six years later.
