The five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test series is currently levelled 1-1 after the third Test in Brisbane was drawn with rain marring more than two days of play. Although, India clinched the opening Test in Perth, the hosts came back from behind and won the Adelaide Test to level the series. The series now moves to the fourth Test, which will be played from December 26 onwards at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.
Ahead of the Boxing Day Test, the Indian team has several points to address, including the rising injury concerns. After KL Rahul sustained an injury to his fingers during a net session on Saturday, skipper Rohit Sharma is the latest to join the list.
Injury scare for Rohit Sharma after a blow to knee ahead of Melbourne Test
Notably, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma copped a big blow on his left knee during a practice session on Sunday, December 22. According to reports, Rohit injured his knee during a session with the throwdown specialist when the ball sneaked through his pads and hit him on his left knee. In the pictures making waves on social media, Rohit Sharma was seen applying ice pack on his knee as he hobbled out of the nets in Melbourne.
This comes after India opener KL Rahul got hit on his hand while batting at nets and was promptly attended by physios. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter injured his right hand and was seen in visible discomfort. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hasn’t provided any clarity on the injuries.
