Team India is taking on England in the third of the five-match Test series in Rajkot. While the series stand levelled at 1-1, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, earlier on Thursday, February 15. While the skipper scored a crucial hundred, his dismissal made way for debutant Sarfaraz Khan.

Khan, who has waited for long to earn his national debut, took the field after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal. Just when Rohit was about to leave the field, with Sarfaraz ready to take the guards in the middle, the Indian skipper patted the debutant, picture of which has been doing rounds on social media.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma shared a brief moment with Sarfaraz Khan’s father Naushad Khan after latter’s son received the Test debut cap from Anil Kumble ahead of the third Test. The two shared a hug as Naushad Khan broke down in tears after seeing his son being handed the Test cap. 

Sarfaraz Khan’s family’s reaction after hitting first runs goes viral

The 26-year-old, who took the field in the 64th over on Day 1 of the third Test, hit his first runs off Mark Wood’s over. As he scored three runs off Mark Wood’s low full toss on leg-stump, his family, including wife and father stood up to applaud this moment. This reaction has since then gone viral of social media.

Moreover, at the time of writing, the Indian scoreboard read 259/4 after 71 runs with Ravindra Jadeja (90 off 174 balls) and Sarfaraz Khan (16 off 24 balls) in the middle.
