Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma reacted to  MS Dhoni handing over the CSK captaincy to  Ruturaj Gaikwad in the Indian Premier League. Notably, the five-time IPL winners dropped a bomb on fans by announcing opener Gaikwad as the new captain on the eve of the commencement of the 17th IPL. While everyone was expecting a captaincy change in the Yellow Army, the announcement came as a surprise as Gaikwad was seen attending the customary captains’ meeting.

Former MI captain Rohit Sharma, who was earlier replaced by Hardik Pandya as the MI captain 2024 season onwards, reacted to the announcement. Sharma shared a picture with MS Dhoni in their respective IPL jerseys and posted it with a handshake emoji on his Instagram story. Notably, the start of the IPL 2024 will mark the end of an era as Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli won’t be leading their respective franchise.

You have got big shoes to fill bhaau: Suryakumar Yadav sends best wishes to CSK’s new captain

Mumbai Indians veteran batter Suryakumar Yadav also reacted to CSK’s captaincy change and sent his best wishes to the newly recruited skipper. Yadav took to the Instagram story to post a message for Gaikwad. Posting a picture of the CSK star, the MI batter wrote, “Can’t deny the fact that you have got big shoes to fill bhaau. But I am sure with your cool and calm nature, you will take this team's legacy ahead.”

He added, “Wishing you all the love and luck.” Notably, Yadav recently suffered a setback as the National Cricket Academy (NCA) refused to give him clearance to participate in the upcoming IPL opener. He underwent a fitness assessment on Tuesday, where the NCA management upheld clearance, which means that he will miss the season opener against Gujarat Titans on March 24.
