On Sunday, March 9, Team India lifted the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 title after beating the likes of New Zealand in the summit clash at the DICS in Dubai. While the match had its turns, with both teams having their moments, but the Men in Blue eventually rein victorious, ending their 12-year wait of Champions Trophy triumph.
With a four-wicket win, India not only became the first team to win three Champions Trophy titles, they also bagged their seventh ICC trophy after their last coming in June 2024. After the title triumph, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also cleared air on his retirement, rumours of which had been rife since the start of the tournament.

As veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja hit the winning runs, the members of the Indian team ran into the ground to celebrate the win. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli also were seen bringing some unseen dance moves to celebrate. In one of the videos going viral on social media, Rohit Sharma was caught putting rest to retirement rumours as he brought in his usual best.
“Abhi ham koi retire nahi ho rahe. ******* inko toh lag raha hai (We aren’t retiring)," Rohit can be heard saying in the video going viral on social media. Hearing Rohit’s reaction, star Indian batter Virat Kohli was also left in splits as the two shared a hug.

However, in the post-match press conference, Rohit Sharma further clarified that he is not retiring from the format as he said, “Koi future plan ni hai. Jo chal ra hai wo chalega (There’s no future plan, things will keep on going as they are). I'm not going to retire from this format. Just to make sure that no rumours are spread moving forward."
It is to be noted that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have now won the most ICC titles as India players, which is four each. While Rohit Sharma won the 2007 T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy in 2013 and 2025 and the T20 World Cup 2024, Virat Kohli on the other hand lifted the title in 2011 ODI World Cup, Champions Trophy in 2013 and 2025 and the T20 World Cup 2024.
