Royal Challengers Bangalore have traded all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed for Sunrisers Hyderabad's Mayank Dagar ahead of the 2024 IPL auction. The Indian Premier League trade window has been moving with some significant moves including a possible deal which could see Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya move to the Mumbai Indians.
Delhi-born Dagar joined Hyderabad for INR 1.8 crore in the last auction but will now be part of the Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore, as per Cricbuzz. In return, Sunrisers will receive Bengal all-rounder Shahbaz, who joined RCB in the 2022 auction for INR 2.4 crore. The Cricbuzz report further claims that an official announcement is expected by Saturday night or Sunday morning.
Dagar made his IPL debut and played thrice for SRH last season where he picked up only one wicket with best figures of 1-37. In contrast, Shahbaz also had an underwhelming 2023 season as he played 10 matches for RCB and picked up just one wicket while scoring only 321 runs at an average of 16.89, a strike rate of 117.15 with a highest score of 45.

Further talking about the upcoming auction on December 19, Sunrisers Hyderabad could go for another full sweep after a disappointing 2023 season with a tenth-place finish. On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore look for key improvement as they missed out on another playoff appearance after losing their final game against the Gujarat Titans.
